Although we didn't get testing numbers, our guess is the Fit will likely be a touch quicker to 60 mph (most likely in the low 9s), but give a big bump up in our figure-eight test... The bottom line here is that this second-iteration Fit gives more in every way, for a small bump in price.

Pricing for the new Fit jumps a bit. Base model 2009 Fits will start at $15,190 for the manual trans; the Sport automatic will start in the $17,550 neighborhood; a fully loaded Fit Sport with nav and VSA will play in the $19,400 ballpark. Certainly no longer cheap, but still a big bang-for-the-buck player.

We hit the road in a brilliant blue Fit Sport with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a navigation system...The shift throws were short and very precise. There was no slop to speak of in the shifter and the engagement of the clutch also made it very easy to drive smoothly and quickly. Also rating high praise was the steering. Unlike the Acura TL and TSX which had inconsistent weighting and poor feedback from their electrically assisted systems, the Fit's system felt great.

...The structure felt solid and the suspension was well damped while never feeling harsh. Wind and other ambient noise was remarkably low inside for an economy car. Probably the most remarkable aspect with regard to noise was when the car came to a stop. The Fit was so silent at idle that after recently driving other cars with auto start-stop systems, I thought the Honda was equipped with one. I had to glance at the tachometer to realize it was still running.

Lift the hood and you'll find a 1.5-liter four-cylinder just like before. But Honda is an engineering company first. So now it's got stronger internals, larger intake valves, improved coolant flow and a redesigned intake manifold as well as a more advanced version of Honda's i-VTEC system to vary intake valve timing and lift. All this tinkering results in 117 hp at 6600 rpm and 106 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. That's a slight bump of 8 hp and 1 lb.-ft. of torque over the previous model.

There's more good news as you move further along the drivetrain. The brilliant five-speed manual transmission returns with revised gear ratios and modifications to improve shift feel—as if it needed any. But the majority of buyers will likely opt for the new five-speed automatic. Fit Sports even get paddle shifters on the steering wheel too with two shift logics, one for normal driving and one for sport.

The Fit's big selling point is the versatility of its interior. The key to the car's design is the placement of the fuel tank under the front seats, creating space so the rear seats can fold down flat and low. There's also an unusual amount of space (51 in. at the high point) between the floor and ceiling of the car, and the seats fold up and down in multiple ingenious ways, giving the Fit amazing hauling power for such a small car...

The rear seats are still tight for average-size adults but not as cramped as they used to be. The new Fit is only half an inch wider than the old one, but interior width is 1.2 in. greater, creating more shoulder space. The rear doors now open wider, making it easier to get into and out of the back seat, and the rear hatch is bigger and extends down lower, making it easier to load stuff into the back of the car.

I spent a few hours with the 2009 Fit and Fit Sport in both manual and automatic forms, and people who purchased the earlier Fit will be pleased to hear that the new one doesn't blow the old one away, but new buyers will enjoy incremental improvements in many areas, including roominess, visibility and engine power, as well as a gas-mileage bump..

The EPA-estimated fuel economy is 28/35 mpg for the base model with a five-speed automatic transmission, and 27/33 mpg for versions with the five-speed manual transmission as well as for the automatic Fit Sport. You read it right: The manual is less efficient than one automatic version, whose highway figure has increased from 34 mpg to 35 mpg in the new generation.

The new Mazda3 will ride on the next-generation global Ford Focus C1 platform and is expected to be longer and wider than the current model. Under the hood, Mazda’s MZR line of motors will get a bump in power and further tweaking for fuel savings.

Expect the current 2.3L motor to be bored out to around 2.5L. That should give it a 20-30hp bump from the current 156hp rating. The 2.0L base motor probably won’t see an increase in displacement, but a 10 to 15 horsepower increase is likely.

It appears that the general layout of Acura's Advanced Sports Car Concept has survived, but changes have been made to increase the level of aggresion for the NSX. The prototype's nose shows marked changes over the concept, with two large, wide-set intakes flanking an even larger central grille.

The production NSX retains the concept's dual stacked exhaust set-up, but rest of the rear bumper is completely different, with reconfigured air ducts now stretching all the way across the back. The aesthetic result is a more squat, athletic stance for the production NSX.

Honda’s NSX replacement has had several false starts, with the company scrapping one of its original designs – the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept - after the public’s largely negative response to the 2007 Detroit show car. Designers were sent back to the drawing board and Honda was forced to abandon its original plans to show the car at the following Tokyo Motor Show.

Despite the drawbacks, engineers were able to continue testing the new mechanicals for the car by using a modified S2000 body and we saw the first test-mules running laps at the Nurburgring by the middle of last year.

The engineers working on the second-generation Mazda 6 had a clear goal: keep the sporty handling, but give the new sedan a big dose of power, room, and quality. And, boy, did they ever. The new 6 looks two or three price classes more expensive than its predecessor. When viewed from behind, its clean design and twin sculpted exhaust diffusers (on V-6 models) are pure Lexus.

The Accord and the Camry feel like Buicks by comparison, because the Mazda's body motions are so tight and well-controlled. The 6's steering, administered through a small-diameter, leather-wrapped wheel, is precise in the way none of its competitors' is… Without question, though, the four-cylinder Mazda 6 is the handling champ in this segment. The V-6's optional eighteen-inch wheels generate loads of grip, but the lighter engine gives the four-pot 6 balance unlike any other large front-wheel-drive car.

One element of the Mazda 6 that hasn't changed is the way it communicates with the driver. The lively feel of the current-generation Mazda 6 has been one of the few reasons to consider it over the competition, and none of that responsiveness has been lost.

First we drive a Mazda 6 with the four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission, and the extra weight of the bigger chassis doesn't drag it down. There's plenty of midrange torque and a smooth, refined feel near the 6,200-rpm redline. We drive a four-cylinder car equipped with the six-speed manual and it's just as enjoyable... Then again, with poorer EPA mileage numbers than the automatic, the case for buying the manual transmission is pretty weak.

We certainly expected more power—and got it. Where the 2.5-liter four feels pretty peppy out on the road, the 272-hp V-6 is downright intoxicating. Coupled only to a six-speed automatic with manual shift mode, the 6i models demonstrated great flexibility with a serious high-end punch.

North America now gets a unique body that is distinctly larger than Europe’s and Japan’s, up 6.9 inches in length, 2.3 in width from before.

After a few hours of driving,.. we think.. Steering is light and alive, yet it grooves in on straight-ahead when the path calls for it. Slack has been zeroed out of brake-pedal motion. Ride is well controlled without being harsh, and noises, both road and wind, are dialed way back.

The Flex is not a lightweight by any stretch, but it is a competent cruiser, and displayed the ability to get out of its own way when needed. For those counting gross tonnage, the FWD weighs in at 4498 lbs. The AWD gingerly tips the scales at 4661 pounds.

Handling is as you would expect in any large vehicle. Which is to say that this is not really a corner clipper. Special attention needs be paid while parking and lane changing, as one would with a minivan. The Flex tracks true with pretty direct input from the rack and pinion steering, and road irregularities are soaked up nicely through the Flex’s gas charged McPherson struts in front and multi-link independent rear suspension. The experience of driving or riding in the 2009 Ford Flex is more serene than you might anticipate, given Ford's previous family-truckster efforts... The Flex's standard 262-horsepower 3.5-liter Duratec V6, which has a history of sounding and feeling a bit grainy in the upper rpm range, doesn't upset the calm of the cabin except at wide-open throttle. Otherwise, it's happy to hum away in the background, drawing no more attention to itself than a refrigerator compressor.

The six-speed automatic transmission (another major Flex component also used in the two-row Ford Edge utility) shifts smoothly and solidly. As in the Edge, the transmission (jointly developed by Ford and General Motors) has no facility for manual shifting.

Driving north out of New York City..., the Flex demonstrated reasonable acceleration, and its handling was about as sprightly as one expects in a two-ton car. Ride is supple and controlled with minimal lean or fuss in turns, but the long wheelbase and mass are natural deterrents to any boy-racer inclinations. So is the transmission, the selector for which offers only "D" and "L."

Inside the Flex, we find Ford's finest-ever interior, at least on this side of the Atlantic... The Flex's seats are extremely cushy and supporting, wrapped with either herringbone patterned cloth (shades of VW) or leather. The six-inch-stretched D3 platform's wheelbase makes for such an expansive second row that the Flex betters the livery-standard Lincoln Towncar in every way. The Flex's third row is… functional.

The Flex's folding seats are jerky and not especially intuitive. They also became stuck on my test car. (Oops.) Once everything is folded flat, including the front passenger seat, we're looking enough cargo space for the most lifestyle challenged slacker. But let's not carried away here (literally): the Flex is not a realistic alternative to a mega-SUV or minivan for hauling aptitude.

The Flex's look at once captures everything good and romantic about American cars while eschewing the bad and the boring... As a people carrier it's equal parts brilliant and flawed. Brilliant: the doors that wrap around the lower sill, making ingress easy for the old, the feeble and the short; the four sunroofs; Sync; Ford's new SatNav system, which just became the best on the market; the driving position that's the perfect compromise between sedan and SUV; the incredibly quiet interior.

Flawed: the third row seats are tiny, much smaller than a Buick Enclave's; the doors don't slide; Ford's 3.5-liter V6 mated to this 6-speed auto is still the worst combination on sale today, delivering neither performance nor economy. It's equally flawed when considered as an emotional purchase.

When I first saw the Ford Flex as a concept at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show (where it was introduced as the Fairlane concept) I must admit that I didn't get it... Flex has evolved from a puzzling concept into an interesting, appealing, clever and fresh take on the crossover class… First, the Flex looks great. Turns out there's nothing "over the top" about it, even though its key individual design elements (the grooved side panels, the aluminum-look hatch, the straight lines, wrap-around lights, the prominent grille) may seem risky.

Second, the exuberant exterior is not let down by the interior. Open the door and you're immediately drawn into the detail and quality of its component parts. The look and feel of the surfaces and materials, the operation of its controls and the availability of an unexpected array of amenities (like a compressor-driven fridge between the seats) speak to a determined effort on the part of Ford designers and engineers to get it right.

Some of Audi's internal documents concerning the A7 have been leaked and reveal the automaker's big plans for this car that will borrow its aluminum spaceframe from the next-gen A6. In addition to the "four-door coupe" model, Audi is also planning a four-door soft-top convertible!

As if that weren't enough, expect an S7, RS7 and hybrid model, as well. The RS7 model will reportedly use the RS6's twin-turbocharged 5.2L V10 pumping 600 horsepower to the quattro all-wheel-drive system.

This is a spyshot of all new nubira/lacetti/optra/cobalt of GMDAT from Korea. It will debut late this year in Korea. No doubt this is the "tamer" Daewoo version - the Chevy version will have a different front end when it debuts and probably be closer in "feel" to the WTCC concept car from awhile back. That car had a much more aggressive appearance.

Also, keep in mind that this car will spawn a Buick variant for China (and maybe the US as well) - and there is still a question as to what direction Pontiac will take in the coming years, which doesn't rule out a G5 replacement either. This platform and it's products will certainly be diffused throughout GM.

The new 2011 Chevrolet Cobalt will utilize GM's new global compact vehicle architecture, and will be shared globally--reportedly being sold abroad in similar form as the Chevrolet Nubira and and the Daewoo Lacetti abroad. The platform is also pegged to underpin the next-generation Saturn Astra and even the Chevrolet Volt.

These latest shots give us a great taste of the further evolution of Chevrolet's two-tiered grille treatment, and the new Cobalt's chunky profile. The first-ever look at the 2011 Chevrolet Cobalt's largely undisguised tail treatment also reminds us of the recently revealed Opel Insignia, with its BMW-inspired raised trunk line and side sculpting.

Up front we find a new interpretation of Chevy's split grille that looks great on the smaller Cobalt flanked by sharp headlights that appear to crawl up the front fenders a bit. Meanwhile, the front bumper is occupied by three traditional air intakes and a pair of fog lamps. Notice the character line that runs the length of the vehicle right above the door handles where the sheetmetal begins to cut dramatically up towards the greenhouse in a concave shape.

The same effect has been used by Volvo in the past to give its passenger vehicles the broad shoulder look. The profile shot reveals a short rear decklid and a coupe-like roofline that may compromise rear seat headroom a touch but looks smooth from end to end.

Based on what was once called the Delta 2 platform, the all-new Cobalt will ride on GM’s Global Compact Vehicle Architecture. The primary engineering and development will come from GMDAT — General Motor’s Korean partner (although there has been strong input from the North American and European planning groups).

Codenamed GMX071, the next Cobalt will begin production in July or August of 2009 at the Lordstown plant. The coupe and sedan will carry the same name, but the coupe is expected to carry a sportier look with a turbo option.

Last week, Rick Wagoner dropped all kinds of hints about the car at General Motors' annual meeting, including the likelihood that it won't be called "Cobalt," making that car a one-generation model nameplate.

The Volt and post-Cobalt will ride on the new global Delta platform, shared with the next Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn Astra and Opel/Vauxhall Zafira MPV. The new Chevy compact's 1.4L turbo will come from Flint, Michigan, which is scheduled to produce 1.0L to 1.4L fours..

Better lighting and a reduced costume covering up details show us the best look at the next Shelby GT500 yet. If you’ll note, as in past imagery, the Cobra badge adorns the mesh grille, but it might be hard to track for the untrained eye. The tightened front camouflage also allows us to scope out the front bumper and fully exposes the fog lamps, showing another fine detail slated for the Shelby’s menacing mask.

Some newer rims are sitting underneath this time around; open-spoke rims with some wider rubber in the rear are cushioning the pony car’s ride. Boy, wouldn’t a raked look be sweet in stock form!?!

We caught this prototype for Ford's redesigned 2010 Shelby GT500 running the streets of Detroit...This interior on this prototype was the first one we have seen free from the heavy fabric covers, providing our first unobscured look at the new Mustang's dashboard design. We can finally confirm that the current Mustang's dual-cowl dash top will be carried over in the redesign.

We've also gotten our first look at a portion of the new 'Stangs center console, and we can make out a much more graceful transition from the dash face to the center stack—a small detail, but one that will certainly help to give the Mustang's interior a more refined look. Finally, we can clearly see that the steering wheel will once again be adorned with a large Cobra badge, this time finished completely in bright brushed metal.

..we can see a much clearer view of the next GT500's front fascia, including copious amounts of mesh for the grilles, as well as a pair of inboard, pie-shaped lights mounted on each side of the main grille. KGP spies also noticed that the wheels worn by this prototype sporting five split-spokes are new, and that the rear rubber appeared noticeably wider than the front.

This car also sported a roll cage, which doesn't necessarily tell us anything, but the seats are some serious performance thrones from Sparco. Unfortunately, there's no telling from spy shots whether Ford is planning on using these Sparco EVO2 seats on the production model.

With its high-revving engine, excellent four-wheel drive system, improved down force and powerful brakes, the LP560 is more confident around a track than the Gallardo. The suspension has also been tuned and lightened, and is adept at keeping the car stable during high-speed cornering. Body roll is now almost non-existent. Steering the car through the pedals was necessary more than a few times, especially when understeer reared its ugly head. However, these were rare occasions and generally the car was responsive to our steering inputs.

The LP560-4 isn’t brilliant in all areas though. The carbon-ceramic brakes still lack proper feel for stop-and-go traffic...The extremely low front spoiler also makes the car hard to take around town...The LP560-4 takes Lamborghini’s biggest success and changes the formula - as a driver’s car, it is devastatingly quick and a delight to throw around a track but as just a car, a daily driver, the old Gallardo made more sense.

Naturally, we spent most of our track time in Corsa mode, which allowed the 30/70 front-to-rear torque split of the VT (viscous traction) all-wheel-drive system to do its thing, and the LP560-4 to slide around a good bit with some easy-to-catch tail-out fun before reining it in. Steering is quick, light, and precise, with good feedback through the Alcantara-covered wheel. The feeling of porkiness of the Gallardo has been mitigated somewhat, and body roll, if there is any, is absolutely undetectable.

Its freshened interior is a decent step up in terms of refinement, with classier secondary switchgear and Audi-level fit and finish. The Lambo still suffers from horrendous rearward vision, windshield glare, and a paucity of interior storage space, although there is a nice shelf behind the seats that can fit a purse or gym bag. But it now even comes with a cup holder. Summarily, the Gallardo is all grown up, feeling every bit as solid and sophisticated as the Audi R8, only louder and faster.

The V10 engine roars to life and rumbles patiently while it waits for us to shift the reworked e-gear six-speed automated manual transmission out of Neutral. As before, there's no console-mounted shift lever in sight: just a trio of flat buttons labeled "Sport," "A" (for automatic) and "Corsa," plus a pair of shift paddles on the steering wheel and just two pedals.

The Sport setting tightens up the shifting and liberalizes the electronic stability control. Corsa, newly added to the LP560, takes both a step further toward the full-race mode by making shifts 40 percent quicker than last year. Thrust launch control can be enabled for demon standing starts, and a stability control defeat switch exists for the highly skilled (or highly stupid). After selecting 1st gear by tugging the "+" paddle, the car doesn't move until we squeeze the throttle gently.

Climb inside the LP560-4, and you'll enjoy a purposeful cabin that can be outfitted with leather, Alcantara or carbon-fiber accents. The familiar Audi-sourced nav system and A/C controls are easy to use, and the tach's 8500 rpm redline is one of the few clues to the outrageous side of this Lambo's personality. Off the line, the new Gallardo feels more eager than the outgoing model, with a power curve that's smoother and more robust at the lower end of the powerband.

Plant the throttle, and the engine sounds a bit less husky than the prior version; this V10 is more aircraft-like, and while open-window cruising reveals more bass notes from the exhaust, cabin noise is generally less boomy than in the 2008 Gallardo. Acceleration gets more ferocious at higher rpms, but the buildup of power is smooth and manageable—hardly as high-strung as earlier iterations.

Put on a diet, the brand new LP560-4 loses 20kg over the standard model and is given another 30kW for extra bite. The most significant changes come in the form of a new aerodynamic package that improves downforce considerably and makes the car a far more formidable track weapon than the standard Gallardo.

Named for its 560hp (418kW) output and 4WD powertrain, the latest incarnation of the Gallardo impresses on several fronts. With its highly-strung 5.2-litre V10 the LP560-4 has stunning performance, accelerating to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and going on to reach a top speed in excess of 320km/h.

Drawing much of its innards from a revamped and reconfigured Audi modular platform, the Arnage will be powered by a bespoke RWD drivetrain. The engine is as yet undetermined, but rumors of V10 and V12 powerplants are circulating. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is almost a certainty, especially on the expected high-power Arnage T.

A diesel engine is possible for the new Bentley, but nothing seen so far has confirmed its existence. The spy shots reveal a car that is at least 18 inches longer than the standard Arnage, thanks to an extended B-pillar section and a longer rear passenger area.

A super extra long version of the Arnage was recently spotted by KGP photographers with an extra 18 inches of wheelbase, and while Bentley already offers the LWB Arnage RL model, this particular car eclipses that and then some to firmly land in limousine territory.

We drove some of Virginia's swaying rural two-lanes and found the MKS very easy to drive smoothly and accurately. The steering is nicely weighted at speed. The first few degrees of body roll are snubbed efficiently. So if you drive with some sensitivity, the big sedan flows along competently. Abrupt steering inputs and tighter corners aren't going to be all that much fun, though.

The EPA figures the standard front-drive MKS will return 17 mpg in the city and travel 24 miles on a gallon in highway driving. The all-wheel-drive version is estimated to return 16 mpg city/23 mpg highway... When we looked at the information sheet supplied with our 2009 Lincoln MKS test car, we inadvertently blurted, "Holy *&@%! This is a more-than-$46,000 car." The engineer riding in the backseat said flatly, "Yes. It is." Be a little more judicious with the options sheet and you could get into an MKS in the low $40Ks. (The all-wheel-drive model starts at $40,355 including the $800 destination charge.)

It appears that Lincoln is attempting to appeal to a more performance-oriented driver. While they haven't hit the ideal marriage of ride quality and handling (like, say BMW), they've managed to ditch the floaty feeling traditionally associated with many Lincolns of the past. Ergonomics are thoughtfully laid out, even if reaching for controls on a few occasions led us to accidentally slide the shifter to the manual mode position.

Around March or April of 2009, the new EcoBoost V6 will become available in the MKS that will provide 340 hp and an equal number of lb-ft of twist. Power gets sent primarily to the front wheels via the same 6F50 six-speed automatic transmission used with the 3.5L V6 in other applications...One aspect of the MKS that was immediately apparent was the sense of quiet in the cabin. The side glass is laminated with two layers of glass sandwiching a layer of plastic.

On some rough pavement that included sudden changes in road elevation and construction zones, the new suspension setup proved its worth... Through the curves, at around eight-tenths, the big black Lincoln didn't really exhibit any noticeable understeer and if the stability control did activate, it wasn't at all intrusive... Overall, the MKS proved to be a very capable cruiser that didn't object at all to some back road thrashing. The only thing that might be considered a weakness is the engine. Hard acceleration drew quick but smooth kick-downs from the transmission followed by steady but not punch-you-in-the-back acceleration. It was certainly adequate, just not thrilling.

The MKS is a full-size luxury car, rated at just under 106 cubic feet of interior volume with an 18.4 cubic-foot trunk, with very generous interior dimensions for four occupants, especially headroom and legroom, even with the dual-panel sunroof installed.

The MKS has moved into the 21st Century, for sure, with new standard features like the Sync system, a new type of keyless entry system with a touch key on the outside and a Start button inside, a capless fuel system, HID headlamps, reverse sensing system and TPMS, dual air, a very complete AM/FM/CD/AUX sound system, Sirius satellite radio, power tilt and telescope column, Bridge of Weir Scottish leather 12-way power seats, heated and cooled front and heated rear, and all the usual luxury-car power equipment.

The MKS fills a giant chasm in Lincoln's lineup, in between the mid-sized-ish MKZ, and the huge, ancient, Town Car. And the new sedan fills it well, and none too soon. The MKS's competitors? Think Lexus GS, think Acura RL, think Cadillac CTS, and to some extent, the Volvo S80, MKS's corporate cousin. The later should come as no surprise, as the Lincoln shares its chassis architecture with the S80, as well as Volvo's XC90 sport/utility, and the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable.

The most important aspect, its "split wing" grille treatment -- inspired by the seminal 1941 Continental -- looks great, especially with its standard, jewel-like HID adaptive headlights...There is but one powertrain offered at launch, that being a Lincoln-only 3.7-liter version of Ford's venerable Duratec V-6. It churns out 273 horsepower and 270 pounds-feet of torque on regular gas. Opt for premium, and you pick up two ponies and six pounds-feet,..

It doesn't appear as though heavy sheet metal changes are in the works for the rest of the car, since the overall greenhouse appears unchanged. Both the coupe and convertible test mules were wearing a new set of double-spoke wheels along with relatively low-profile tires. Changes to the rear end are harder to discern. Multiple pieces of disguise hide the true shape of the rear bumper, while the lights appear unchanged from the current model.

Most of the changes are expected to come under the hood. A 5.0-liter V8 will replace the current 4.6-liter V8, which should result in a decent bump in horsepower. It's not an all-new engine, though, merely an enlarged version of the 24-valve SOHC V8. The real news will be the introduction of Ford's new EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. Its twin-turbo setup should deliver more than 300 hp while delivering superior mileage compared to the 5.0-liter V8.

It appears that the next Mustang's interior is a mix of carryover bits and some new elements. A new steering wheel maintains the current car's three "open-spoke" design, but the new wheel gets a double-stack of controls, with cruise control buttons on the left, and multimedia buttons on the right to operate the 'Stang's updated Sync interface.

It appears that the revised Mustang will maintain the current car's instrument pod, but this prototype shows new white-faced gages, and the speedometer and tachometer have switched places (the speedo's on the left, tach's on the right). The updated interior also gets new air vents, with slightly more upscale actuation.

It's all speculation as to what's powering this prototype, but it appears to be a GT model if wheel size and two grille-mounted fog lamps are any indication. Out back are dual exhaust pipes and what must be a rear spoiler all covered up, as well. The hood features a big bulge, but don't get too excited as we surmise it's not to make room for some monster engine but rather keep the contour of the new hood a secret. The C-Pillar is extremely thick, and the beltline rises dramatically toward the rear. Unlike the coupe's centered exhaust, the wagon has two separate — but equally well integrated — exhaust outlets. The taillights reach all the way to the roof, tapering down to thin shards as they rise.

The CTS Wagon — which is being developed under the codename GMX 206 — is slated for production in about a year at GM's Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant, with an on-sale date shortly after. Production is pegged at 10,000 to 12,000 units per year, with 50 percent of those intended for European sales.

We've seen the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon but that was masked up with black camo as it was being tested on the road . Now we've got some un-camoed pictures of the newest member to the 2010 CTS family as it's apparently being tested online for opinions. The CTS family already includes the sedan and the 2010 CTS Coupe, and with this new Wagon der Sport, it'll be a threesome.

Open up the power-operated lift-gate, and you'll find 25 cubic feet of cargo space, and 58 cubic feet of cargo space when you put down the split-folding 2nd row seat.

What you see here is what you can expect the new 2010 Ford Fusion to look like. These Fusion image renderings are created by guys at autocosmos and clearly shows the new grill which slightly moves up at the edges towards the redesigned headlamp to create a smile on the face.

Other changes in next generation Ford Fusion includes wider tyres and the grill secondary in the form of honeycomb plus the decent sized air-vents just above the fog lights. The sedans rear is noted for chromium that accompanies the logo and a dual exhaust outlet. The tail lights on production model are expected to be slightly different from what you see in the image here.

This mule shows cut lines for tall air-inlets at the outer edges of the front bumper, which will also hold place for fog lamps. The shape and positioning of the inlets match perfectly the details seen beneath the camo on prior Fusion prototypes.

It also appears that the changes will go a bit further than just the front fascia, as a new sharp character line on the front bumper can be seen wrapping around toward the front fender. The new surface development suggests may mean that the new Fusion will be getting some chunkier front fenders, making the redesign a bit more extensive than a mere mid-cycle facelift. We'll have to wait and see a more finished prototype to confirm this.

We've known for some time that the Ford Fusion was due for a mid-cycle refreshening soon, but new spy shots from KGP Photography reveal that more might be in store for Ford's successful mid-size family sedan.

This prototype features the current car's hood and "squircle" headlights, but sports a different grille style and front bumper. The Fusion's trademark three-bar grille looks like it will become more expressive in the next version, with the top bar bowed down slightly in the middle like a smile. We imagine the production version will have all three bars bowed to some degree, giving the Ford sedan a distinctly happy and swooped back face.

This is not a serious off-roader, but then neither are its competitors in the main, and the vehicle, with its very smart Haldex diff system that sends the power to the wheels that need it most, will cope with most mild off-road situations, allowing the Tiguan to move safely through snow, mud and loose sand. Performance was brisk in the diesel, which VW says will go from zero to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds and uses and average of 7.4L/100km. In fact on several hundred kilometres of driving, including some off road, we recorded an average of 8.1L/100km on the cars trip computer.

There are some nice applications of VW technology from models further up the chain, like the electronic park brake, first seen in the Passat, which is operated via a switch in the centre console. There’s also an ‘auto-hold’ function which electronically engages the rear brakes while the car is at rest and holds the car until the accelerator is depressed.

For now the Tiguan is only available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine; the two petrol engine Tiguans arrive in October 2008. The diesel has a familiar clatter, but it’s well muted thanks to technology and sound-deadening throughout. Like most diesels peak torque (or pulling power) is produced down low in the rev range. The 320Nm kicks in at 1750rpm, but even from 1200rpm and 1300rpm there’s plenty of muscle on tap to ensure the Tiguan is responsive. It accelerates effortlessly up hills and keeping up with traffic before running out of puff at about 4500rpm. Peak power is a mediocre 103kW, but the diesel’s appeal is with its easily accessible torque.

Under the rear floor is a space saver spare tyre, which limits the Tiguan’s off-road usefulness. Speaking of which, a brief encounter with some light-duty tracks showed the Tiguan more than capable of disposing of average obstacles. A claimed 200mm of ground clearance at least keeps the underbelly of the Tiguan away from rocks and other nasties. The Tiguan’s four-wheel drive system also does an okay job of engaging 4WD when required. Most of the time the Tiguan powers the front wheels, with a central clutch engaging the rear wheels almost instantaneously if wheel slip is detected.
