The CX-over project started life as the Alfa Romeo Kamal concept (pictured) back in 2003 at Geneva, the concept featuring a 250 horsepower, 24-valve V-6 engine and six-speed manual transmission. Alfa's de Meo has said that his company will focus on automatic-equipped, V-6 sedans and SUVs for the Amercian market, making the CX-over a significant addition to the U.S. lineup. Still, we have to wonder if the rising price of gasoline coupled with new CAFE standards mean that Alfa may be arriving a little late to the SUV game Stateside. Moreover, sporty crossovers were still a fairly new concept back in 2003. By 2010, however, not so much.
