2010 Ford Fusion Photo Renderings

2010 Ford Fusion Photo Rendering What you see here is what you can expect the new 2010 Ford Fusion to look like. These Fusion image renderings are created by guys at autocosmos and clearly shows the new grill which slightly moves up at the edges towards the redesigned headlamp to create a smile on the face.

Other changes in next generation Ford Fusion includes wider tyres and the grill secondary in the form of honeycomb plus the decent sized air-vents just above the fog lights. The sedans rear is noted for chromium that accompanies the logo and a dual exhaust outlet. The tail lights on production model are expected to be slightly different from what you see in the image here.

2010 Ford Fusion: Shiny, Happy Mid-Size Sedan

2010 Ford Fusion Spy Photos | Page 2 of 3 | Next>>
2010 Ford Fusion Prototype Photo This mule shows cut lines for tall air-inlets at the outer edges of the front bumper, which will also hold place for fog lamps. The shape and positioning of the inlets match perfectly the details seen beneath the camo on prior Fusion prototypes.

It also appears that the changes will go a bit further than just the front fascia, as a new sharp character line on the front bumper can be seen wrapping around toward the front fender. The new surface development suggests may mean that the new Fusion will be getting some chunkier front fenders, making the redesign a bit more extensive than a mere mid-cycle facelift. We'll have to wait and see a more finished prototype to confirm this.

Spy Shots: Ford Fusion's new face found

2010 Ford Fusion Spy Photos | Page 1 of 3 | Next>>
2010 Ford Fusion Prototype Photo We've known for some time that the Ford Fusion was due for a mid-cycle refreshening soon, but new spy shots from KGP Photography reveal that more might be in store for Ford's successful mid-size family sedan.

This prototype features the current car's hood and "squircle" headlights, but sports a different grille style and front bumper. The Fusion's trademark three-bar grille looks like it will become more expressive in the next version, with the top bar bowed down slightly in the middle like a smile. We imagine the production version will have all three bars bowed to some degree, giving the Ford sedan a distinctly happy and swooped back face.

2008 Volkswagen Tiguan First Steer (Australia)

VW Tiguan Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 3 of 3 | Next>>
2009 Australian Volkswagen Tiguan Review This is not a serious off-roader, but then neither are its competitors in the main, and the vehicle, with its very smart Haldex diff system that sends the power to the wheels that need it most, will cope with most mild off-road situations, allowing the Tiguan to move safely through snow, mud and loose sand. Performance was brisk in the diesel, which VW says will go from zero to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds and uses and average of 7.4L/100km. In fact on several hundred kilometres of driving, including some off road, we recorded an average of 8.1L/100km on the cars trip computer.

There are some nice applications of VW technology from models further up the chain, like the electronic park brake, first seen in the Passat, which is operated via a switch in the centre console. There’s also an ‘auto-hold’ function which electronically engages the rear brakes while the car is at rest and holds the car until the accelerator is depressed.

First drive: Volkswagen Tiguan (Australia)

VW Tiguan Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 2 of 3 | Next>>
2009 Australian Volkswagen Tiguan Review For now the Tiguan is only available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine; the two petrol engine Tiguans arrive in October 2008. The diesel has a familiar clatter, but it’s well muted thanks to technology and sound-deadening throughout. Like most diesels peak torque (or pulling power) is produced down low in the rev range. The 320Nm kicks in at 1750rpm, but even from 1200rpm and 1300rpm there’s plenty of muscle on tap to ensure the Tiguan is responsive. It accelerates effortlessly up hills and keeping up with traffic before running out of puff at about 4500rpm. Peak power is a mediocre 103kW, but the diesel’s appeal is with its easily accessible torque.

Under the rear floor is a space saver spare tyre, which limits the Tiguan’s off-road usefulness. Speaking of which, a brief encounter with some light-duty tracks showed the Tiguan more than capable of disposing of average obstacles. A claimed 200mm of ground clearance at least keeps the underbelly of the Tiguan away from rocks and other nasties. The Tiguan’s four-wheel drive system also does an okay job of engaging 4WD when required. Most of the time the Tiguan powers the front wheels, with a central clutch engaging the rear wheels almost instantaneously if wheel slip is detected.

Car review - Volkswagen Tiguan 5-dr wagon range (Australia)

VW Tiguan Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 1 of 3 | Next>>
2009 Volkswagen Tiguan Review The Australian Tiguan handles very well, with high levels of adhesion, a flat cornering stance and only a gentle front-end push when really trying hard. The only downside is the light steering that lacks in feel and feels a little vague on-centre. Overall, though, the Tiguan goes straight up towards the sharper end of the compact SUV class for its handling ability. Ride quality is best described as firm yet supple on the standard 16-inch wheels.

The six-speed automatic transmission is smooth enough, with only the occasional non-silken shift. Unless in Sport or manual mode, the six-speed starts in second gear. The six-speed manual is a little clunky and can be hard until you’re accustomed to the neutral plane’s stiff spring-loading to find second gear in a quick three-two downshift, but otherwise is an enjoyable transmission to shuffle gears with.

First Drive: Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8

Genesis Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 6 of 6 | Next>>
2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test Hyundai's first attempt to build a serious luxury saloon capable of challenging BMW, Lexus and Mercedes...Dynamically, it feels good by the standards of the American market. Road and wind noise are kept at bay by snug insulation, even at test track speeds of up to 130mph, and it rides well over broken surfaces. The big V8 engine keeps in the background under everyday use, but emits an enjoyable and distinctly upmarket growl when roused.

A 5.8 second 0-60mph time and an electronically limited 155mph top speed prove it's no slouch. Suspension feels soft by European standards, and the steering lacks centre-feel in hard driving. But it certainly deserves the right to be taken seriously as a luxury saloon, and the established order should feel distinctly threatened.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan: First Drive

Genesis Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 5 of 6 | Next>>
2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test In this pair of tests the Genesis V-6 and V-8 proved themselves almost identical in feel to the 530i, the heavier V-8 approaching the sensations of a 550i. With the Genesis wheelbase at a class-leading 115.6 inches (overall length at 195.9 inches is roughly five inches longer than any competitors mentioned here), this agility was slightly surprising to us. The Hyundai dynamicists have incorporated aluminum steering and suspension knuckles, aluminum front link arms and brackets, a sophisticated five-link suspension geometry at all four corners (as on the Lexus), and a simple yet solid all-around Amplitude Selective Damping system.

NHTSA has just awarded the big Genesis a five-star rating, too, in all front and side impact tests. One particular luxo touch that we noted immediately is the substantial laminated windscreen and front window glass. Opening and closing the front windows is an absolutely silent operation à la Rolls-Royce. Genesis is also the first car for sale in the U.S. with major use of fiber-optic technology for onboard systems, reducing the complexity and weight of a traditional wiring harness.

First Drive: 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan

Genesis Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 4 of 6 | Next>>
2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test The parking lot statistics are these: the Genesis is a big car with a fair bit of horsepower...Under the hood you get your choice of a 4.6-liter V8 or 3.8-liter V6. The bigger lump corrals 375 horses when sipping premium, and 368 with regular gas. Torque numbers are 333 lb.-ft. and 324 with premium and regular, respectively...The 3.8-liter Lambda V6 gets 270 hp and twists 233 lb.-ft., which keeps it in good company as well. Through the six-speed automatic transmission, your mileage will be 17/25 in the V8, and 18/27 in the V6.

It was on the high speed oval that we began to wonder about the V6 versus V8 question. The V6 at top speed, (130 mph) in the highest lane, was rock solid, while the V8 at about 145-MPH suffered some suspension squash and wandering. In the middle lane, at 100 mph, the V8 was solid as granite, with the V6 just a fraction behind it in solidity. All of this is mainly due to heft of the engine.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test Inside the cabin, the Genesis V8 is outfitted like a true luxury sedan. Spacious, richly appointed and fully decked out with a comprehensive list of convenience features, this Hyundai looks and feels very much like a top-line Lexus. The seats are as comfortable as they appear, although they lack the kind of firm, highly bolstered Germanic treatment a sport sedan enthusiast might enjoy. The instrument panel's white-on-black electroluminescent gauges look like they came straight out of a Lexus.

Other than the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Genesis is the only car that presently offers a Lexicon-brand 7.1 discrete audio system with HD radio, 17 speakers and more than 500 watts of power. If the 40-gigabyte hard-drive-based navigation system is ordered, the dashboard of the Genesis is enhanced with an 8-inch color display and XM NavTraffic, plus digital music storage and a back-up camera. Like all 2009-model Hyundai cars, the Genesis comes standard with XM Satellite Radio and USB/iPod connectivity.

Car Reviews > 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Genesis Test Drive | Photos | Video | Page 2 of 6 | Next>>
2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test The Genesis made pretty smooth work of lane-change and slalom courses at Namyang, with body control well in check, but the V-6 model is let down by a disappointing lack of steering feel, an old Korean-car bugaboo. Thankfully, V-8 models have electrohydraulic power steering, "which allowed us to define the steering curve for a very linear feel," claims Collins, and which we found to provide a far clearer line of communication between the front wheels and the palms of our hands. We're not talking BMW-like steering here, but it's a far cry from the Toyota Camry's or, for that matter, the Hyundai Sonata's.

Unfortunately, the Genesis has not shed that layer of isolation that so characterizes Lexus cars and, of course, most Hyundais....We'll grant Hyundai that the Genesis is more involving to drive than the Lexus GS (and certainly more so than the ES350), but for a sedan that so unabashedly aims for the best from Germany, it still needs a more Teutonic tilt to the chassis tuning: more road feel and steering feel, please. And although the brakes in both V-6 and V-8 Genesis models were responsive and progressive, they could use a more positive-feeling pedal.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Road Test Numbers. It's all about the numbers. Longer and wider, with a longer wheelbase and shorter turning radius than BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E-Class, and Lexus ES. Lower coefficient of drag, 0.27, and better fuel economy than most. A stiffer body than those of the Bimmer, Benz, and the Lexus LS 430 (Hyundai sees much of the Lexus range as its competition). Its optional Tau V-8 is "best-in-class," making more horses (375) than V-8s in the 550i, E550, GS 460, or Infiniti M45 and does 0-to-60 mph in well under six seconds.

On Namyang's tight handling course, the Genesis's suspension handles transitions reasonably well. Push it hard, though, and the front tires scrub into the pavement....The car is biased considerably toward understeer, and there's no steering with the throttle, electronic stability control on or off. As with most any Lexus or Mercedes, you can't turn ESP off completely. The speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion steering is a bit numb and on the light side, offering less feedback than an Infiniti M35 provided for comparison, and requiring small corrections on the banks of Namyang's high-speed oval.

Factor in a 570-lb weight loss courtesy of exotic materials, and you've got a Benz that can flat destroy almost anything else on the road.

Brooke Hogan Car Crash Brooke Hogan, the daughter of former WWF wrestler Hulk Hogan had yesterday got involved in a multiple car accident in Clearwater. She was driving in the center lane of the Bayside Bridge when the car in front of her lost control while changing lanes. No one was injured but Brooke Hogan's (real name, Brooke Bollea) Mercedes CLS had severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the incident but no charges have been filed till now.

On her MySpace blog, Brooke said:
I don't know if you heard, but my friend and I got into a really bad car accident today ourselves... As I turned on my car I clicked my seatbelt. As we pulled out onto the road, I looked over and realized my friend didn't have her seatbelt on. I reminded her to put it on and the minute she clicked it, a car crashed into us.

Powered by an electric motor, it is designed for environmentally conscious and socially responsible riders who still want excitement of sports bikes with safety and extra-conveniences. There is nothing more tragic than dropping your bike when you buy it new!

In addition the main fear for a rider is injury due to being exposed to the road and other vehicles. To address these issues Gonzalez designed an external structure that, in initial sketches at least, protects the rider overhead with a cover and on the sides with butterfly side guards.

First Drive: Saab Turbo X

2008 Saab Turbo X Driven | Photos | Page 4 of 4 | Next>>
2008 Saab Turbo X On our highway run to the event location, we were impressed with the solid way the Turbo X tracks. The steering is well weighted and informative without being busy. Expansion gaps are mostly heard and not felt, as the suspension swallowed sharp transient impacts with aplomb, and we had a hard time restraining the right foot. Out on the road, the secure ride and tossable handling make the Turbo X a traffic Sabre Jet, and the turbocharged V6 is punchy with minimal lag, making a sound nearly as heavenly as what emanates from BMW's twin turbo three-liter.

A manual transmission SportKombi was next, making us forget the automatic entirely. While the auto is generally good, it's slow-witted compared to the standard, even when shifted by the thumb triggers on the steering wheel....The manual transmission allows fast gearchanges, letting you be in the right ratio to lay down the power exiting a turn. Out on the open road, however, either transmission proves fully satisfactory.

2008 Saab Turbo X Say hello to the Turbo X, a limited-edition 9-3 that pays homage to the 1985 Saab 900 SPG, a classic coupe known for its trademark black exterior treatment, three-arm alloys, and turbo engine.....The result is the best-handling 9-3 to date -- oversteer is more prevalent and easier to maximize, and the overall balance borders on neutral. Moreover, torque steer has been all but quashed.

Of course, there's more to the X than its ebony duds and all-wheel drive. Saab enlarged the four-wheel disc brakes (13.6 inches front, 11.5 rear), lowered the ride height by 0.4 inch, and stiffened the springs and dampers all around. Inside, carbon-fiber accents, black leather seats, and a replica of the 900 Turbo's boost gauge complete the treatment.

2008 Saab Turbo X The Turbo X marks the debut of Saab's XWD ("Cross Wheel Drive," as the Swedes say it), a fourth-generation Haldex-built all-wheel-drive system that will also be available on garden-variety Saab 9-3s. Unlike previous Haldex systems, the center clutch-pack coupling (which is technically not a differential) no longer relies on wheelspin in order to transfer torque to the rear axle.

Instead, an electrically driven hydraulic pump can preemptively vary the pressure reaching the coupling in order to route torque to the rear, even if all four wheels are stationary. Theoretically, the system can apply 100 percent of the engine's torque to the rear wheels, but this situation is only possible if the front wheels are on wet ice and the rears are on pavement.
